Is My Home Perfect Because I Professionally Clean & Organize?

Short Answer... OF COURSE NOT!
If I had a dollar for every time someone said to me, "You are a professional organizer, how exciting! I bet you're home is immaculate! You probably have no clutter.", I would be on a plane to somewhere tropical right now with all those earnings!
Just because I make my living cleaning and organizing that does not mean my home is Pinterest perfect at all times. Especially in this season of life because I am #1- a mom, and #2- a busy professional who is in someone else's home almost every day assisting them with their tidiness and clutter. As you can see below there are spots all over my house everyday that need help getting back to their former glory. These six pictures are from a walk through I did right before publishing this post and are just a few of the clutter spots I captured. I don't care who you are, if you live in your house then it will look lived in. Granted the lived in look varies depending on factors such as how busy our day/week was, did I keep up with my daily habits or let them fall by the wayside, did my kids have friends over, was I feeling ill for a few days, and so on.
It never ceases to amaze me how quickly my seven year old can untidy the spaces in our home, truly. She's a mess magician.

So what if someone called me and told me they were on their way to my house and would arrive in about twenty minutes? Would I panic and start speed cleaning or run around flustered wondering where to even begin? NEITHER.
The magic of organization is that even though my house is not magazine ready at a moment's notice, it can be! Because we have systems in place and things have a home, it is incredibly easy to reset our house even after our little tornado blows through it. In the twenty minutes I have before company arrives I can tidy up, fluff the couch cushions, fold the blankets, give the floor a quick vacuum, load/unload the dishwasher, and potentially more! If my family helps out we could have our bathrooms cleaned, floor mopped, and kitchen wiped down too. Due to this people come over and think that's just what my house looks like all the time, but in reality less than half an hour ago it had chaos swirling. It is a rare moment that my entire house is tidy all at the same time.
People often underestimate what can be achieved in twenty minutes with good systems in place and uninterrupted focus.
When you have either a housekeeper that comes regularly or you yourself clean on a weekly schedule that keeps the home maintained, all you need is the ability to quickly tidy up and you're set! Because the cleanliness will always be at baseline, only small tasks will remain. If you can tidy in 15 minutes and spend 5 minutes spot cleaning surfaces that need it or running a quick dyson, you are company ready anytime.
How amazing does that sound??
**Full Disclosure: By company ready I am not including any extremely judgy friends or family you may have. Company ready is not immaculate, it is tidy and the promise that most people will be impressed and absolutely not grossed out by the state of your house. We aren't aiming for perfect here, just pretty damn good!
